Robert Cudmore Obituary

Obituary

Robert Mark Cudmore, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the age of 44 in Hinton, Alberta. He was born on January 12,1980, in Vanderhoof, British Columbia, to Larry and Leah Cudmore. Robert, known affectionately as Rob, touched the lives of many with his warm heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love for his family. Rob graduated from high school in 1998 and started his apprenticeship as an automotive mechanic in Pemberton, BC in 2001. On August 14, 2004, he married the love of his life, Vanessa Service, in Fort St. James, BC. Rob and Vanessa moved to Prince George where Rob finished his apprenticeship in December 2005. Throughout his life, Rob lived in various places including Fort St. James, Vanderhoof, Prince George, Pemberton, BC., Edson and Hinton, AB.

Rob and Vanessa welcomed their son Austin Glenn Oct 25, 2005, and they moved to Edson Alberta in 2006, where Rob worked at fountain Tire until moving to Hinton to continue as a mechanic. On October 16, 2007, Rob and Vanessa welcomed their second son, Aiden Larry. On Feb 1, 2012, Rob and Vanessa decided to start their own business. With hard work, Vara Automotive was established. Rob put his heart and soul, sweat and tears into the business providing a good life for his family. The Cudmore family welcomed Aiden’s friend Brad into their home Aug 2023 to live and be a part of the family as one of their own. Rob's passion for hockey was evident as he supported his sons, Austin and Aiden, throughout their years of playing the sport. Sponsoring several teams over the years, providing a home for Hockey billets and having the opportunity to see his son Austin play Junior A Hockey, he cherished moments spent cheering them on and pushing them to be their best. Rob even spent countless hours building the boys an outdoor hockey rink at their acreage. Rob also had a love for cars, particularly his 1971 Pontiac Ventura and his prized 2019 Orange Chevy Corvette he bought for his 40th birthday. Rob's journey is incredibly inspiring and demonstrates immense courage and determination in the face of a devastating diagnosis. His strength and resilience throughout his battle with stage 4 Glioblastoma are a testament to his character and the power of the human spirit. Though his fight ended, his legacy of bravery lives on, inspiring others to never give up hope in the face of adversity.  Rob will be dearly missed by his wife Vanessa, his sons Austin (Peyton), Aiden (Sarah), and Brad (Rachel), his parents Larry and Leah Cudmore, and his sister Rita Hooey (Tim), Laura and Ron Dean (parents-in-law). He is also survived by his grandmother, Sheila Cormack, of Vanderhoof, BC, and nieces and nephews: Cassidy Loutan (Mitchell), Mackenzie Hooey (Dakota), Amy Penner, Mylee Fredin, Christopher Penner, his sisters-in-law, Orianna Lauzon (Billy) and Stephanie Dean (Corey), as well as great-niece and nephew Elijah and Blake Loutan that he loved so much. He leaves behind cherished family pets Maya, Madeline, and Pumpkin, who, along with his immediate family and friends, share in the grief of his passing and will continue to cherish his memory. Rob was predeceased by his grandparents, Jim Cormack, Irene Cudmore, and Glenn Cudmore.
